Jerry Goldsmith Tribute CD
A few years ago while attending a local CD show, I ran across this CD - The Society for the Preservation of Film Music (SPFM) Tribute to Jerry Goldsmith, whew... that's a mouthful. I had known about this particular CD but thought I would never actually see one. The CD was produced specifically for the attendees at the 1993 career achievement award tribute/dinner. It was reported that there were only 500 produced for the event. This CD included score tracks from The Flim-Flam Man (1967), Take A Hard Ride (1975), Magic (1978) and Baby: Secret of the Lost Lengend (1984). At the time, these 4 scores had not made it on to CD. Which is why fans of Mr. Goldsmith were paying several hundreds of dollars for it. Of course, with highly sought after discs like this there will always be counterfeits. Read more about this over at Filmtracks And you're probably thinking, do I have an original? Yes, I do - according to Filmtracks. The image here was scanned and shows the gold seal black, but it is indeed gold foil. The small label on the back is typed with serial number 111. And, if you click on the image you can make out (barely) the 20th Fox logo behind the label. I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time. I picked this disc up for a mere $7.00 - in mint condition I might add. Not sure whether or not the seller knew what he had - obviously not. |
